Welcome to Finch! 🎉 Starting a new habit or self-care routine can feel like a lot, Finch is designed to gently guide you every step of the way.

🐣 Your First Goals and Adventure

  • When you first join Finch, you will automatically start with a few goals. These are here to help you get familiar with the app and begin caring for you and your birb right away.

  • You can add new goals at any time by scrolling down on the Home page. Completing goals gives your birb energy and helps send them on their first adventure.

  • You can also add the Finch widget to your phone’s Home screen for an extra reminder to check in with your birb. You will see a prompt in the app’s settings to help you set this up.

📖 Adventures, Stories, and Discoveries

  • Once your birb completes an adventure, they will come back with a story to share. Sometimes, your birb may also make a discovery and develop a like or a dislike!

    • Not every adventure chat results in a discovery. Discoveries are only saved when your birb forms a like or dislike.

    • Note: If you choose to write a custom response, that interaction will not be saved as a discovery. This feature is helpful for moments or topics that do not resonate with you and that you would rather not keep as part of your app experience.

🏠 Customize Your Birb and Home

  • You'll have access to the outfits shop and furniture shop from the Shop tab on the Home screen. As your birb grows, additional shops will unlock!

    • In the shop catalog, items are view-only. You will not be able to purchase directly from the catalog. However, you can buy items from the daily random rotation of rare items and from the everyday section.

🎯 Wellness Activities and Quests

  • Finch includes wellness exercises like breathing exercises, reflections (or journaling), and focus timers. These can be found in the Activities menu within the app’s settings.

  • Be sure to check out the Quests tab as well. Quests introduce you to more features of the app and guide you to different features like breathing exercises and petting your birb.

🌳 Friends and Invites

  • You can add friends from within the Friends tab to send encouragement and good vibes.

  • If you invite new friends to the app (or are invited by a friend) you can earn additional rewards! 

🔥 Streaks

  • Finch includes streaks to help you build consistency over time. Your streak updates whenever you check into the app.
    • Opening the app and checking in with your birb helps keep your streak going. Streaks are meant to encourage gentle consistency, not perfection. You'll earn free streak repairs by checking in consistently. 

🎉 Seasonal Events

  • Seasonal events unlock after you have been using the app for three days. These limited-time events include special rewards, themed items, and fun ways to stay engaged as you build your routine.

Your Finch journey is meant to grow with you. Start small, check in, and let your birb be a gentle companion as you build habits that support you in your self-care journey! 💛
